Following the success of Meet My World London and Lima, we were delighted to host Meet My World NYC on the 30th November. Fred and Chris from Amantani presented the awe-inspiring films created by the young people from Amantani's projects in the Cusco region, Peru as they share their lessons on 'How to Have Fun Without Technology'!
This was an opportunity for us to share the films and young people's stories with a completely new audience. The intimacy of the event made it very special and it was great to see so many Peruvians in the audience! This was the second edition following the success of Meet My World NYC in 2015.
The evening was filled with Peruvian food, delicious Pisco (thanks to Macchu Pisco) and talks from ourselves at Amantani. We were also joined by guest speaker Sonia Balcazar from the charity El Conocimiento Se Comparte, who provided a fascinating insight into their inspiring work in rural areas of Peru. We hope to team up with them again in the near future.
Despite the films being about 'How to have fun without technology', the guests were asked to use their mobile phones throughout the evening. In doing so they raised funds by sending online messages to the screen. We felt incredibly lucky to receive such generous support from the audience. All funds raised will be supporting our educational projects and we look forward to updating you all on progress.
With special thanks to everyone at Pealfisher who hosted the screening and made us all feel very welcome.
Thank you to everyone who came to learn from the young people!
